 Download this month's PDF hereThe School Library Link is a newsletter to help school library teachers promote their school library programs. The audience for The School Library Link is parents. The newsletter is available free to school library teachers/school library media specialists, who then can download it, print it out, and send it home with their students.

Here are the basics:

The newsletter is produced monthly. Each month has a theme, starting with the phrase, "The School Library is the link to..." One month may be "the link to technology," while another may be "the link to information literacy..." Themes for each month may also be connected to holidays and seasonal topics. Each month parents will be introduced to the plethora of activites that school libraries participate in and the inherent value these activities have for our children.

The Format

The newsletter is available as a PDF file (Adobe Acrobat). It is a two-sided newsletter. On page 2, there is a spot that reads, "Watch for next month's issue..." which you may use to place a sticker with your school library's contact information, if you choose. You may also just leave the message. If you choose to add nothing, the newsletter is ready to go home to parents as is.

FYI: The newsletter is in color, but you can certainly make copies in black and white (on colored paper perhaps) to save money. For more tips on ways you can use The School Library Link in your school, click here.

What Do I Do?

To start, browse this month's issue! The full text will be included on the "This Month" blog page, with a link to the designed, downloadable PDF file. Download the file, open it, and read it. If The School Library Link is something you think would be helpful to send home to parents, make copies and send it home with students! Each month there will be new issues to peruse, download, and print out.

When is the newsletter available for download?

Each month, the newsletter is available for download by the first of each month.
